- Gary Brookins
- A cartoonist and painter living in Richmond, Virginia, Gary Brookins draws the cartoon panel "Pluggers" for Tribune Media Services. The feature appears in 75 newspapers nationwide, including the Boston Globe, Dallas Morning News, Denver Post, St. Paul Pioneer-Press, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, The Tennessean (Nashville) and Richmond Times-Dispatch. He also does the drawing for the comic strip "Shoe" which appears in 650 newspapers worldwide and is distributed by King Features Syndicate. After a long career as a syndicated political cartoonist based at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Gary has escaped the daily grind of nine-to-five office life, traded in his India ink for oil paints and is happily meandering back roads all over the South, searching for those great American icons, rusty old Fords and Chevys. ReplyDeleteI was reflecting back the other night and looked around my house. When I realized that a good percentage of the furniture in my house was built by me I thought "Hey! I might be a plugger!"
