"Fireworks"

  1. There was one like that in front of a tourist trap place outside of Branson, Mo. It looked all shiny and restored and all but if you got close enough to check it was all rusty and nasty underneath. Just a shell of shiny paint holding it together. The sign saying "Do not touch" was there so nobody would put a thumb through the fender. Pity.

  2. Nice work Gary.
I very much enjoy your art.
Keep it up and thanks for posting.
    (Also love, love your cartoons!)

  3. It looks like a Mayberry style town but there is an evil lurking in the dark closet behind the counter. A place where the customers become the souvenirs. Neat painting.

  4. Leave to TJ to make anything into a Twilight Zone episode. I have dorky friends. I guess that's why I like them so much!

  5. Thanks, guys, for all your comments and observations. I put together the truck and building in one painting, though they are actually about 75 miles apart. The truck is on Rt. 460 near Disputanta, Virginia, southeast of Richmond. The old fireworks stand is on Rt. 301 near Port Royal, heading toward Maryland. We were through there Thanksgiving heading to Maryland to visit my son and daughter-in-law. The building is still there, but the sign is now gone.

  6. I think the two of them went together very nicely. A great composition.
